Selling a Cree MC-E powered Energizer 1xAA light.

The original Cree XR-C led has been replaced by a WF color bin Cree MC-E.
The MC-E is mounted on a copper plate in place of the original star. It's
running through the original regulator and I've been tested one of these
lights for months with no problems. You can run it off of a LifePo4 3.2V AA
battery from Walmart, or a 3.7V 14500 Li-ion (no battery included). My
meter says 1 amp draw on the 14500, but I'm not sure that is accurate.
The positive contact on the board has a solder blob added so the light will
work with older flat top 14500 cells like the AW"s. This does however disable
the polarity protection, so be careful not to insert a battery backwards.

The beam is very smooth with the textured reflector. A large hot spot
with a lot of flood, but it still has a little throw. Although there is no X
in the hotspot, a small dark hole is in the middle. It isn't very noticable
in normal use.

If you hate the sensitive switch on these lights, It has been modded to
increase the momentary switch travel and the button pressure. Now it feels
more like a Surefire Z57 clicky. More info on this mod for your switches.

Dang it Dave, will you stop tempting me like this?! What are the dimensions of this work of art?

What kind of charger do you recommend with the LiFePO4?

I don't really know. What I use is an Ultrafire WF-138 for RCR123 and a homemade adapter for AA. It can be switched from 3.6V to 3V. The LifePo4's I used had a very short runtime though. A 14500 works much better. The body can also be bored out for an RCR123 or IMR16340 with a dummy spacer. You have just can't drill all the way to the head end of the body.

I would would say real output is closer to 300 lumens. The LED isn't being run that hard. 25 minutes sounds about right on a 14500, though I haven't tested it. Yes, single mode.

Re: FS: Cree MC-E powered Enerqizer 1xAA

Couple questions:

I don't have any 14500 lights yet so I don't know the difference between the protected ones and the un-protected ones. Are they different sizes and will this light accommodate the protected ones?

I know this will get really hot, but just how hot will it get and how quick? What is my expected run time before it gets too hot to hold?

Protected Lithium-Ion batteries have a built in circuit to protect it from overcharging and from over discharge. They are slightly longer but fit fine in this light. At least the AW brand does. Other brands may vary.

This light actually doesn't get that hot. The regulator seems to be restricting the drive current enough to keep the temperature under control.
