Can someone point me to a web store I can buy violet LEDs from?
I'm looking for both 5mm and high-power LEDs having a peak wavelength
close to 415nm or 420nm.

These seem to fit the bill at first but the "spectral graph" shows a peak at
445nm not 420nm. Has anyone tried these out?

Please help I've search high and low!

Hello!

That led type in your link seams to be a deep blue chip covered with red phosphor. Often they are called "pink".

There's also a three legged type of 5mm led with two chips, one blue and one red, where you can set the colour by adjusting the individual current to each chip.

But for a real violet led it shall be the single 420'ish chip whitout phosphor. The 420nm one you can find here I think is of that type http://ledsupply.com/5mm-leds.php
