I've been searching and hoping for a worthy replacement for my venerable P1 for some time. The light is nearly perfect but I'd like a little more...

My biggest gripe with the P1 is diameter, I'd like something smaller for my EDC. I don't however want to give up output or runtime if possible.

I've been looking at the NiteCore line but no nothing about them. So I need some guidance:

- no longer than the P1 (2.5" max)
- slimmer than the P1 (.8")
- More power if possible
- More runtime would be nice
- AA would be nice but I know not very likely because of length.
- price needs to stay in the $50 or less range

I'm also curious about the CR2 lights. I've never run CR2s and am not sure if they are worth switching to (I currently only have the older DSD charger for my CR123s).

Nitecore EZCR123 is just about the same size as the original P1. It's roughly twice as bright on high but with half the runtime. It has a low mode unlike the P1. I think that's the only CR123 light that fits your criteria.
