anyone tried these yet? 1000 - 6000 lumens per Led depending on input of course.....

they also have a red led that is 1325 lumens, i would'nt mind getting about 10 and making a taillight for the bike.

anybody using these? they seem to be kicking CREE in the butt, in terms of lumens......

a little big for some flashlights...but maybe for a remote area lighting system or bike lights...... :)

Actually yes, I have had an opportunity to play with some LEDs from the Luminus PhlatLight series. Yes, they are very bright.

Aside from being a bit big for a flashlight, in order to get that much light out, a huge amount of cooling is required. I worked for a company that used the Red Green Blue version of the PhlatLight series - they had to be cooled with a heatpipe attached to each, connected to large fins, which had air passed through them by a good size (120mm) fan.

I'm not saying you couldn't use these in a flashlight, but it would be quite a design challenge if you wanted to use them anywhere near the rated power.

(I'm just going by what I know from the model LEDs from this series that I played with, not sure about the specific model in the datasheet you linked to however)

sorry this should have been in LED section....oops

i think i might get a few of the 6000 lumen ones and build a portable lantern, using a big computer heatsink and cooling fan (mount the leds on the heatsink).

you will all get to laugh at my attempts at soldering....
