Just wanted a basic, single mode, long lasting flashlight in case of any emergency or power outage. Works like any mag, so my parents could use it.

There is no much I can tell about this one... It has 4x14mm Q5, 4xcree plastic optic reflector, 4 boards which drive the led at less than 1 watt and uses 3 common D batteries. Brightness is close to my JETIII Pro, big hotspot, very floody beam. I took 3 discharged Ds and it could still provide enought light.

Since the leds doesnt get very hot at that current, I just sticked a mini heatsink to each of them.

Some pics...

If you have an old mag lying around, you must do this!

Nice. I bet your parents are really impressed with it.

You could probably leave out the driver boards and run it in direct drive on alkaline batteries.

Very nice work, any idea on lumen output?

Don't have a multimeter in hand right now so I cant measure the power, but I expect somewhere between 220-250 lumens, the optics are not the best and DX drivers have medium efficiency. Output is between my JETIIIPro and my T100C2 when doing ceiling bounce test.
