Brightest EDC 2-mode foreward tail cap?

New here and have been searching and reading until my head is about to explode. I would love a small AA (not tied to this batt config) edc with two easily accessed modes (low and hi) or an easy UI that makes it easy to go directly to the highest setting. I like the idea and feel of a momentary foreward tail cap. The nitecore D10 seems to fit the bill but is certainly at the top of my budget. I was wondering if there was something else I should consider.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated be they brighter, cheaper, or just more desireable for other reasons. Like I said I'm new and I'll take advice from just about anyone right now.

While going even more expenisve than the D10 :devil:, the SF LX2 is a top-notch light that pretty much fits what you have described (including the "not tied" to AA's part ).

Yes, definitely have a look at the Quark AA tactical. Only $57. Program two modes and change mode by turning the bezel.
