Greetings,

Last night I went to a dinner party out in a really rural area. My friends who hosted the party live in a wooded area with no street lights. It gets dark! I had previously loaned a 9P w/BOG Cree Premium drop-in to a friend who used it camping and it was returned to me at this party. More on this later. My friends all know I'm a flashaholic, I had a SF 6PDL w/BOG Cree Premium drop-in and a tube of extra batteries holstered to my belt. My friends were curious about the extra holster and when I told them it contained batteries they laughed and called me a "Dork." After dinner we were all sitting down and chatting when a complete stranger comes up to me and says "I hear you're the flashlight guy, can I borrow your light?" There were lots of kids at the party and things were lost or needed to be sorted out. So off went my light with someone I have never met before. This was a very cool moment! As the party started to break up I was called upon to escort people to their cars. It was really dark and many people had to park out on the unlit, tree lined street.

It gets better. I stayed the night at a friends house and they lost power due to a lightning strike! I put my 9P in a cup and placed a white plastic cup over it to light up the living room. One of my friends is recuperating from surgery and has very limited use of his left arm. I have an Aeon with a neck lanyard and I put this on him so he could get around in the dark. The 6PDL was used to walk the dogs and to impress my friends hot female neighbor, hey we had to make sure she had a light until the power was restored! His wife just rolled her eyes when we told her about checking on the neighbor. I had an L1 in my jacket pocket that I used around the house.

I was a "Hero" for a night.

Thanks for sharing.

Great story. It's funny how some people will laugh at a guy carring a flashlight and then stumble around in the dark.

Nice story kelmo!

It's good to always be prepared with a few flashlights, because you never know when you will need them! :)

Good story.

I have seen similar "tales" many times before. People get teased about having a flashlight, pocket knife, gun etc....

Until someone with them needs to BORROW it.

That is when the "haver" needs to be a , and tell the "not haver".:nana:

Why not just put the batteries in another light and carry it?

I had an Aeon in my pocket as a backup. My friends did rib me about not having a light when I loaned out my SF. I showed them the Aeon and they laughed!

loaning lights to perfect strangers is a sure way to lose that light forever.

Not in this case, I was with a very mature friendly crowd. The hostess told my new friend to ask me for a light. But I hear what your saying.

So when you went to check on the hot neighbor, did she say "is that an Aeon in your pocket or..."

Not even! The shadow I cast was HUGE!!!

Remember Grasshopper, "It is not the size of the light, it is the application of the lumens."

Wow! You're making me feel guilty of only carrying 2 lights! Good to see that lights are put to good use now and then.
