With so much ado over AA ability , I though I might try making my L2's AA capable ..

Method 1 / 1A Buck Boost driver swap for your pill .

Its that easy , swap out the driver for a KD/DX 1A buck boost 17mm Dia driver , these drivers are 0.9v-4.2v input , and you can run 1xAA or 2xAA + CR123A or 18650 depending on what body you own ..

Method 2 / Buy the new low voltage pill with your next L2 body . These pills are 0.8v - 4.2v ...

You can mod the L2M with a 18650 extension
You can mod the L2 with a CR123A extension

If you want 1xAA then you will need to go L2M , you must leave out the spring from the driver [ batt contact spring ] , so that the AA will fit .
On the other hand , if you just want 1xCR123A and 2xAA , feel free to solder on a spring . Or leave on the spring with the Solarforce Pill

The L2 , will be 18650 and 2xAA capable , and if you use the low voltage pill from solarforce , all you will need is the CR123A extension and your good to go .

With the L2M , you will need some sort of spacer if you want to be able to use 1xAA , No spacer with 1xAA , spacer needed with 1xCR123A and 2xAA .

SO you can have your CR123A / 18650 and 2xAA for back up in one light .

Expect about 80Lumen with 1xAA about 180Lumen with 2xAA and 240Lumen + with CR123A / 18650 [ Factory Low voltage pill ]

My 2 / 2xAA L2's

Parts / L2M + 18650 extension / L2 + CR123A extension

The parts for my CR123A / 1xAA / 2xAA light - This one is a 1A buck boost mod

This is about the max protrusion for a single AA

This is what 2xAA looks like , and you will need a spacer

With the spacer in place

2xAA configuration

The easiest way is with the fact pill + extension tube ..
Its Lego city .

Im not sure if the new 2xAA is a dedicated 2xAA , so no CR123A / 18650 option .
Possibly !
I like Lego , and I wanted it now :D

I have 2 lights capable of 2xAA , and if I want , the L2M can go back to CR123A and the L2 can go back to 18650 .. I like options !

I have another 18650 extension on order , so maybe 3xAA will be on the cards shortly .. :tinfoil:
