Lumens OTF

I tried to see if anyone had answered this question adnwas unable to find any. But which flashlight companies measure the output at the emitter and which measure the output out the front. Specifically, when is a hundred lumens, a hundred lumens ?

Surefire measures the lumens rating out the front and they're usually under-rate the lumens by a tad.

If it's not specified, you could assume that all other companies measures their lumen rating from the emitter. I've been seeing that increasing number of companies started to list both the LED-manufacturer's specified lumens (emitter) as well as OTF lumens. Of course they don't specify how they measured the OTF lumens.

Good to see you found that thread helpfull. Also, keep in mind that those numbers were obtained by going to UCL lens and flat bezels as opposed to those tactical teeth type bezels found on Surefire Defender models.
