Alright here is the new one that I just built tonight. I am very impressed with the output of this. This has some big throw.

Maglite 2D
H22A Heatsink (ground down lips)
Cree XP-G R4 15mm board
Boost Circuit (runs on 2 D Alkalines)

Lets get to some pictures so you can see for yourself.

Super Bright Hot Spot Tightest Focus. (20 feet roughly)

Interestingly enough. You can defocus this quite a bit without a donut hole. Nice even beam.

Well done; the focusing aspect is great, another big run on Mags coming up??

The XP-G acts like an SSC emitter with its floodyness,....not a bad thing.
So it would seem, any setup that got any throw from an SSC should work for the XP-G.

The bigger reflectors, with the flat bottom section, looks like the way..

Nice work allburger:twothumbs

I guess your boost circuit is 1amp output?
Show us some comparison pics with other lights if you can. Especially against XRE Q5 and XRE Q5 R2.

thanks

I will do some comparative beamshots. I can tell you that this has a higher lux rating than q5/r2 p60's, my p7 mag, and you could still see the beam well in the midst of a SF M6 with lumens factory 700 lumens 3x17670 setup.

We all know how dim our LED lights look in the rain. everything is wet and the light is absorbed too much. Plus i do not have a nice camera with extended exposure. Just a point and shoot digital.
