Hey Guys,

I just received a FiveMega 3 "C" cell tube and clicky.

Can someone recommend good rechargeable protected C cells and a charger?
I don't know a thing about these cells.
I want to stay away from places like DX...just an FYI

I always use AW RCR123's in all my smaller lights.
I see they no longer make the AW C cells:sigh:

Thanks!

Ray

You might be best off with some IMR cells, if they fit.

Another option would be to stick some 18650's in there.

Other than that, besides using NiMH, I don't think there are many options.

Thanks for the tip, but there are always more viewers here and it seems
like a pretty general question.

Truly appreciate your concern though ;)

There's a big question here of fitment vs voltage.

The FM 3C was designed, as you say, for cells that are no longer made. You can make up for the new IMR version being shorter, but the IMRs are also fatter, to fat to fit into the original 3C tube. That only leaves 'normal' Cs (nimh and alk) and non AW C lithiums.

What is your voltage goal?

EG will point you in the right direction, he's messed with these bodies a fair bit.

Quick note, check the link in my sig, I did a pretty comprehensive thread on low-voltage options for those FM C bodies. DHart has set up his 2xC with some DX (I think) LiIon C's, I've done my FM 2xC and 3xC with a low-voltage (NiMH / Alkaline) configs.

I do like these older FM 'C' bodies quite a bit and have no interest in parting with either of mine, even though the cell options are kind of limited.

Good luck,
K
