hi all!

I was thinking about this and seems viable comparing to the XR-E reflectors....

I checked the spatial distribution and the MC-E is closer to the XP-G than the XR-E

What do you think? (leaving open the possibility to enlarge the hole)

Data:
XP-E http://www.cree.com/products/pdf/XLampXP-E.pdf page 12
XP-G http://www.cree.com/products/pdf/XLampXP-G.pdf page 5
MC-E http://www.cree.com/products/pdf/XLampMC-E.pdf page 5
XR-E http://www.cree.com/products/pdf/XLamp7090XR-E.pdf page 8

BTW Cutter links the XP-G optics for the MC-E...

I know you said reflector, but I think you might actually be happier with an optic for these larger area emission setups. It is easy to end up with way too much flood with larger die and multi die seteups.

The MC-E and XP-G share some common aspects in terms of light management requirements. I am seriously studying the offerings from Ledil, and CPFr Trout has made a few postings about their optics, esp. the Iris optic

It seems like if you use an MC-E optic with the XP-G, it would make a somewhat tighter beam than otherwise expected, but I am not sure if this is really true without some testing. The XP-G is a good value in lumens / $, but in a space constrained design, I would still be tempted to consider the MC-E.

I really wish PL had a large die offering, but this does appear on their roadmap presenations. In the meantime, I guess I am forced into a Cree or similar approach to my projects in order to break past the 500 lumens OTF.

well I did mean reflector...I should be more specific on my intentions too...

I will try a Xp-E p60 module with the MC-E I have
