as the title states, will the batteries be able to handle it?

if so, how long is the runtime?

if not, will the high-current aa batteries used in mag85s (like titanium power max or cbp elite series) be safely applicable in this situation?

i'd really like to run the TK40 in 4 x aa configuration.

thanks!

any knowledgeable enough people care to reply?

even theoretical answers with exact amperage figures (and other things i'm probably failing to consider at this point) would suffice.

also, i won't hold you liable if something goes horribly wrong :D

The batteries in the TK 40 are 4x4 in a series-parallel setup. The extra 4 batteries just increase runtime. All the rules that apply with 8 cells should apply with 4 cells with less runtime. I used Turbo fo 25 minutes the other night while cleaning out a dryer duct outside and it never overheated. I run eneloops. Not sure i'd use alkalines in this way though.

thanks for the reply and that's great to know!

i was just reading the tk40 manual and fenix doesn't recommend using turbo on 4 x aa. i guess that only applies to alkaline primaries then.

how long would be the total runtime on turbo? has your light died yet?

The TK40 requires ~3A.

Some batteries cannot produce 3A.

The Eneloop can.

The Eneloop produce 2AH. The TK40 requires 3A. 2AH/3A=2/3H=40 minutes. YMMV.
