Flashlights from nations with democratically elected governments?

I am in the market for a new LED service flashlight, but I want to limit my purchase to something manufactured by a firm located in a country with a democratically-elected government and not a one-party dictatorship. That, of course, throws out anything coming from the People's Republic of China, which, unfortunately, seems to be a lot. :sigh:

So, what are my best options?

SureFire LX2, this is by far your best option.

Well Taiwan has a democratically elected government. But democratically elected does not equal competence nor does it have anything to do with how good a flashlight they can make.

Take out the ones that are mostly made from parts (like driver boards, bodies, reflectors, etc) that don't meet the original poster's specs and the list drops another 75%.

Don't forget you'll need batteries, too.

Maybe you'll be stuck with a politically acceptable flashlight
that you can't buy "freely elected" batteries for.

(Personally, I don't think flashlights and politics are a good mix,
except for stirring up unnecessary grief.)

Most high-quality batteries are made either in the U.S or Japan.
