As far as runtime and output (OTF lumens) and beam quality, which light is better? Is it worth wating for a possible second run of Quark AA2 with R5's in them , which will make the comparison a moot point? Any feedback or results is greatly appreciated!

There is already a thread on exactly this comparison. Please use the search function.

As for the beam, the Quark is better, I don't know about runtime and OTF Lumen. The stated Quark Lumen are OTF, while Fenix claims emitter Lumen. Don't care too much about a difference in Lumen you won't even notice, the beam is more important!

The official statement from 4sevens is that there won't be a second run with XPG R5. There will be one for sure, the question is when! You must decide if you need a good light now or if you need a better one in a few months or a year...

check the review section for beamshots and runtimes.

i think the runtimes are within the same ballpark. the quark is more flexible with more output settings.
the beam quality is infinitely better on the quark.
