Hi I have this head lamp and was wondering if it is possible to change the batteries to AA with still keeping the dimmer switch?

If anyone has done this and can show me how that would be great thanks Rockworm.

that is a 3*AAA light, You want to mod it to 3*AA?
What Do You think is needed?
--> simply another batter compartment in the back for 3*AA. No Magic at all

Well I have a old Petzl headlamp witch has a 3 AA battery compartment. So would it be ok to mount the dimmer function in the new case and hook up the wire from the head lamp? What im getting at is there any power difference that i have to worry about going from 3 AAA to 3 AA batteries.

I would think the H7 would draw the same amount of current. DO NOT add extra voltage. It will scorch really fast. Pretty cool headlamp isn't it? Some other companies should take notice.

I've thought of your idea, as I'm sure many others have.
The dimmer part of the battery pack looks like it could be
cut (sawed) off the 3 aaa holder and then epoxied on to a 3 AA battery
holder.

As a test measure the current out of 3 new aaa batteries into the
H7 on full blast. Then before cutting anything jumper wire the 3 AA
battery holder to the contacts in the 3 aaa holder and again
measure the curent on full. (remove 3 aaa batteries first of course)
Should be similar values if new cells are used for both tests
..and same battery type chemistry ie NimH , alkaline, lithium).
