My DX ssc P7 came in the mail today! I got my 2800mA driver a couple weeks ago. The only thing I need to do now is get some small bolts or screws with which to attach the star to my heatsink. (And I have thermal paste to smear between them)
Oh, yeah, and some NiMH batteries, the real D cell type, not the AAs stuffed into a D size package. I want more than 2500mAH in this thing.
I tested it briefly (less than one second) direct drive from two AAAs in series with jumper leads, and WOW, it lives up to its reputation. Extremely bright and floody (no optic at this stage). I am duly impressed.
I will try to take pictures to document the procedings, if anyone cares to see them. (Yes, I know, another p7 maglite mod... yawn. Me and everyone's mother have made one)
