Cool Lights Chilli\'n in the Pool!! - Round 2!

Yep, got a little bored and decided to throw some lights in the pool and see what they looked like.. (plus, never hurts to test out the old water tightness either /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif )

I like the effect so much I'm gonna do a few more of these shots tomorrow night.
with more lights> /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
From Left to right:
2-5-4.jpg

Arc AAA, Ultra G, X5, McLux 1x123, E1E\KL1, Arc 2xAA LSH-P Modded to 500ma, 3x123 direct drive 5W McLux, 12AA 4000ma NiMh 30mm optic 5w Overdriven Craftsman.
Yes! these are all under water!!
Just thought I would share!!
Interesting new take on the old Beamshot comparo standard.. Instead of the spots on the wall, show the actual beam cutting the water... Sweet

Very interesting light beams. Was the pool completely dark to start with?

Damn! That 5W McLux is going to town! Neat shot, Flash. You should try through some smoke next time.

No need for a hunkin' heatsink for that 5W DD in water...

Re: Pic - Some cool Lights... Chilli\'n in the Pool

Let's see....
V8TOYOTATRK,
Yes you did!
The Craftsman is doing great.. Could not be happier with that PR based Copper slug heat sink!!. Thanks again.. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

hotbeam... yep The Pool (was) completely dark... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Darell \ FalconFX.. The 5W McLux direct drive is one seriously bright light! Gets way to hot fast out of the pool and is an intermittent use light only... (of course it's quite happy running non stop in the pool!!)
Haven't tried the smoke thing yet for beam shots.

I had fun doing this... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif I think it would be cool to have both beam path patterns and beam spots when comparing lights...

As long as the weather allows, I will do more tonight...

Very cool picture Flash /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Did you have a chance to measure the temperature of the pool? May be you have a "Luxeon Driven Heated Pool" /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/huh.gif

Beautiful flash... , Just beautiful. That picture is priceless! True work of Art /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif . Now you have given me an idea to try that in the bottom of my HotTub, that would be cool. On second thought I don't think I have the courage /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

All, thanks for the compliments...
I will do more tonight!!!

Zeppert: I would think twice before doing this in hot or even warm water as your lights may cook.

Re: Pic - Some cool Lights... Chilli\'n in the Pool

Ok... took more shots /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Preparation took the longest... Pictures went quick
Course, the real problem now is I have too much light!!! It drowns (pun) out the beams somewhat. But that's ok as this was just for the sake of a neat shot.

Well, here they are in all their glory!
2-5-5.jpg

And talk about lighting a pool!! (I'm gettin Ideas now for under water permanent LS lighting fixtures for the pool!! Mmmmm ... colors!)
3-1-1.jpg

The next three are panning around the step.
Left to Right:Shorelight Vx2, eternalLight.. (counting down), Arc AAA, Ultra G, ??3-5mm nicha AAA light.... forgot who makes this, E1e\Kl1, First Gen McLux-Nx05, Second Gen McLux with custom wide angle epoxy lens that Don "McGizmo" made for me, X5, BB500 Minimag.
3-1-2.jpg

(McGizmo makes some of the most awesome lights on this board IMHO)
The lens on the wide angle Mclux is very similar to this one from his site:
uni-ball-thumb.jpg

On to the middle group:
Another MiniMag BB500, LSH-P Modded to 500ma, Direct Drive 3x123 5W McLux, 25nicha 9000mcd Radioshack Ion Flux Link, Another 25 nicha 6000mcd Ion Flux, Craftsman 75th yr annv Ion flux "2" see Link, 5 Watt 12AA Craftsman.
3-1-3.jpg

far right shot:
Oracle 5c modded for 5w focusable Link, TekTite 7 modded to a 13 nicha config.
3-1-4.jpg

And lastly:
3-1-5.jpg

One seriously bright box full of goods /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif to take in and dry off!

disclaimer: (no flashlights were harmed during this experiment. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif )

Re: Cool Lights Chilli\'n in the Pool!! - Round 2!

So does that pool work well for a heatsink for the 5W DD? I would image dropping your lights in works well for an illuminating pool heater. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yellowlaugh.gif
