Do you rate posts and why?

I guess I've always noticed the little gold stars but I never paid a lot of attention to them.
What are the criteria for rating posts?
Does everyone make up their own or is there a FAQ that I've missed?

Well, what is the stars good for? If you are interested in a thread, why bother with the stars? I think it is like discrimination that is not in its place

i rated once to see if it worked /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon3.gif

i think they're pretty much pointless...

i'd have to say i'd prefer it if they were disabled

Initially, I noticed the gold stars, but they have become commonplace, so I don't even see them anymore. For me, the topic title is what determines whether or not I open a thread.

On rare occasions I have rated a thread/post in order to possibly attract others to what I felt was an especially good bit of info. I think I've done it maybe three or four times ...

Bumping is the way to go to signal interest to "Latest Threads" watchers.

I will sometimes review what's been going on by starting at the Main Index. But my most frequent mode (latest threads) does not show me the stars.
