My new McMilky?

My "McMilky?"

What do you get when you cross a Milkyspit Creemator, built from a Surefire E1B, with a McGizmo 1x123 McClicky body?

A McCreematorMilkyspitGizmoSurefire?

Dunno...maybe you can come up with a cool name, but what you do get is one of the coolest lights I've seen -


I asked Milky for a very small light that I could use for early morning walks in almost total darkness (walking my dogs) that would give me:

• Long throw for lighting up the 'thangs' that lurk in the woods...

• A strobe to warn off the occasional passing car...

• A nice medium that is good for the rest of the walk.

He gave am all that, PLUS 2 other levels including a LOW LOW that is so low that I might just give up my beloved Surefire T1A. It is THAT low. Plus a very nice tint - just the right amount of warm, but still VERY bright. AND, a focusable head that allows me to enjoy long throw and tight spot you get on a TIR head, but also varying levels of flood just by twisting the lens. Amazing. I can't wait for darkness and I'll do some beamshots for sure, but until then I'd like to share some Milky/McGizmo/Surefire 'porn' for your viewing pleasure:

Oh, and by the way, Milky is great to deal with. And his work is outstanding...if you want a Milky Mod and are hesitating, don't hesitate! Go for it!

Nice light, great pics. Love the CREEmators, they are awesome lights. Can't wait for Milky to finish my L2.

Is this an R2 driven with his 1.3A Acorn driver?


Very nice lego and the crome on black looks really nice. I know the E1b stock is a good thrower already, it must be amazing now.

Yessir - Cree XRE R2 with 1.3A Acorn ("Califon" firmware) with a very sweet focusable optic. I won't take this this apart often....but for the sake of a peek:

Thank you! Yep, that's Mr. McGizmo's titanium beauty - I fell in love with that host when I got my Haiku -I had to buy a McClicky pak to be the home for that Milkyspit Creemator!

More coming - I promise! I had to go out last night to my daughter's high school fall sports awards banquet - and it is cold this morning! I took it out for the dog walk and was blown away. Think LX2 on steriods, with 4 levels plus strobe and your choice of spot or flood. BUT - I've done these beamshots with my other lights in a 22 foot hallway in my basement, so I quickly did these this morning (it's 5:35 AM here in northern Virginia!) (EDIT - cropped the photo to make it more comparable to the LX2 photo) I WILL do a video - it's easier than beamshots to me..

But for now, a few shots of the Milky with an LX2 for comparison.(I have to say that these meager beamshots do not do justice to the beam...fully 'tightened' the beam has a nice spot, with graduated levels out to a spill that is probably 50% larger than the LX2. You can focus the beam to a spot much like the original spot of the E1B - only much brighter. As you continue to counter clockwise twist, the size opens up almost to the point that it becomes a flood. A simple, elegant solution. As great as the interface and the brightness are, the focusing optic is something that I think I'll be just as happy with.)

Thanks - please look again - I cropped the photo to make it more comparable to the view of the LX2. NOW you can see a more realistic comparison. Look at the flood in the hallway, along with the spot on the drapes. Again, LX2 on steroids!

Interesting light. I don't think much of the appearance, but if it works as well as you claim then I can write it off as being the price paid to have a custom "rig". I might consider getting one -- AFTER I get disc brake tabs welded onto my mountain bike.

Indeed. It looks much better mounted on a 2 cell body...

It's an interesting light for sure - I hope to do a better review of it very soon. Funny, when I walk the pups in the morning - always pitch dark - no matter which 'tool' I choose for that walk, this light is in my other pocket. It is a throw monster - the beam isn't perfect, but man does it throw. It's cool also how the optic can be focused if you need more or less spill/throw.

Brake tabs on the mountain bike - sounds like an important project. The weather is finally getting to the point here where I can get back on the road bike. The DC area has great bike 'rail trails.' :thumbsup:
