Best new Pelican, remarkable power, amazing range

pelican.jpg

7/10/08

Well, after a familiar 9-month gestation period it's time to awaken the great bird once again. Is anyone still buying Pelican lights?

Original post:

My apologies to CPF's wonderful administrators, moderators and all my fellow Flashaholics. My girlfriend dared me and I just couldn't resist. My special apologies to those who got their hopes up.

Mea Culpa!!

The beam -- errr.. beak -- has a kind of greenish brown corona but it does have a whitish tip.

Wow that is an amazing light!

I'd hate to take it fishing with me though. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Hey Brightnorm. Your girlfriend knows about Pelican flashlights and encourages you to get on the CPF? Wow...lucky guy!

I don't know.....the finish is pretty splotchy, the knurling is pretty uneven, and it doesn't look all that
"bright". I guess I keep looking. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon15.gif

Saaby,

I don't know how to do that, but you can just copy/paste into WORD and then resize. I find that the easiest way.

She used to just go along with all this to humor me, but then I started using her as one of my observers for my "vertical throw tests" and others, and she very slowly started to come around.

We were just horsing around, and at one point she said something was "for the birds" and we started in on that and it eventually led to Pelican lights, and one silly idea led to another which eventually led to this monster pelican giving us all the bird..

Well, I guess all that is left to do is to shove a couple of 123s in it and see what lights up. LOL. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: Best new Pelican, waterproof, greater range

Waterproof? or only water - resistant?

Can we assume that it floats?

Domestic origin? Developed in conjunction with the SEALS?

Available now, or is that just a prototype to hype preorder?

Details, we want details!!

David,

Pelicans are living creatures who are very proud of their heritage. Aside from their irritation at being treated like commercial property there is growing resentment at the linking of their noble name with a small piece of plastic that lights up.

Flashaholics who are not familiar with the pelican community have no idea of the extent of anger, even rage that has been building since the founding of CPF, which pelicans blame for their ills and consider to be more evil than their great enemy, the killer whale. I recently discussed this with a King Pelican (whose beak can indeed hold more than his belly-can) and he stated:

"The killer whale may eat us, but at least he doesn't insult us"

He ended with a stern warning for CPF:

"If you really think we will stand idly by when you attempt to "MODIFY" Pelicans. you are sadly and dangerously mistaken. You ringleaders know who you are; Maestro Hulk, Mac Gizzard and the rest of you MODDERS and FODDERS over there in CPF land. And all you PURCHASERS of Pelicans; SHAME on you, don't you understand what we are saying to you? As one of your favorite commentators, I believe his name is Russ Limburger, is fond of saying: "actions have consequences".
