USB Drive security apps?

Hello, just had a few questions regarding usb drive security applications.

But first, some background. I have a drive I use for school, for papers, essay's, labs, etc. I also use it for storing my various pictures, funny movie clips, music, etc. Well, several times I've left it in a class, and it's always turned up, but I don't want people to be able to see my personal stuff.

Anyway, are there any good (preferably free) applications out there to allow me to password protect files, or create a hidden portion of the drive? It doesn't have to be able to keep out the FBI or anything, just be able to keep prying eyes from looking at my stuff.

My one real problem is finding a program that will let me access my information on both PC (windows XP Professional, Vista Home Premium) and Mac (not sure what OS). We have both Mac and PC computers at my school, and I have classes which use both.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not an app, but its the most secure you can get. Might be overkill for what you're looking for, though. (but how many of us don't have stuff that's overkill, like the 1KW tank light?)
