If you unscrew the head or tailcap just a little so the light will not come on, will this stop the parasitic drain or will the body spring let the parasitic drain continue? Just trying to find a quick way to stop it without taking the battery out.

Yes, it should stop any drain, though in normal use I've never had any issue with that. The spring is for the switch which in this design is just a momentary switch for a ground signal to the electronics and doesn't pass any current.
