Anyone have experience with Koehler-BrightStar lights?

I was checking out Brightguy.com and
noticed the Koehler line of lights.
Don't seem to hear much about them on
this forum. I was interested in the
4AA Responder. The brightness really
seems to be exaggerated at 35,000 CP.
Do they use a PR style bulb? I thought
it might make a good platform for an
LED conversion, if it does not pan out
as a bright light. What is the word
on these lights?

I have not handled any but based on what I have heard.
-Heavy duty construction
-Extremely tight focus, messy beam
-Exaggerated CP ratings (the 35,000 CP is either in a VERY tight beam or very exaggerated. More like 6000 CP in the ProPolymer 4AA)
-Uses PR bulbs (XPR 113?)

I have the 6v. lantern...It is very rugged with a tightly focused beam...6" at 10'. The light has endured a construction project at my home...changing the bulb is a huge!!! PITA.

I picked up one of the Hubbell lite 3-c lights on clearance at Lowes ($5 dropped from $20). It appears to have the same body as the K-BS Responder 3-C. Seems very sturdy, tailcap switch is a bit hard to activate since the body is a little slippery, tight beam but a bit "ringy", good output, Xenon pr bulb, rated for use in hazardous environments. That's the best I can do - hope it helps.

Thanks for your responses.
After looking closely at the
PT Tec40, I think it would
be a better choice.

I purchased a 3-c cell kohler from the bright guy.
It puts a good beam out, susposed to be 50,000cpf. I tried it and a m-10 and it blows away the m-10. I think it was worth the $15.50 for it.

A very dark world.
I have a 4AA Responder (in the back of my closet).
Heavy duty, rated waterproof, ugly beam, and a push button switch which REQUIRES TWO HANDS TO OPERATE!
