Who makes the brightest AA flashlight? looking for a "thrower" mostly. I am planning on running it as a weapon light to see how well it holds up.

ETA-up to 4xAA

Why AA?
CR123 would be smaller, lighter and brighter.
What kind of weapon?
Handgun, shotgun, assault rifle etc?
Remote/tape switch?
Price?

The Fenix TA30 is the first light that comes to mind that is meant to be attached to a weapon, however that is cr123's not AA's.

Re: Brightest AA Light: Javelin 3AA

Right now, the longest-throwing AA light is probably the Dereelight Javelin. I believe I've read reports of the 2AA Javelin throwing 9000 lux (measured at 1 meter); as a 3AA, 11,000 lux. ADDED: The main Javelin thread is here.

I've put a Dereelight Javelin pill (R2-WG) into my Dereelight DBS, put the 3 x rcr123 battery extension on the DBS and ran it on 2 x AA. I also put a new AR lens in it too

A mate has a 1 x 18650 DBS with a Q5 emitter. Side by side we both agreed mine was visibly a bit brighter than his, so I'm guessing its doing about 22,000 lux. Runtime is 50 minutes on eneloops. We were impressed!!

cheers

I have the Eagle Tac 2 AA and Javeling in front of me as we speak and they are the same lengh and feel identical.

The Javeling 2 AA will be using a XP-G R4 from Nailbender with 1.2V~4.2V input capabilities and driven at 1.2A....

I have an OP reflector and Smooth for more throw. :nana:

Now for kicks I also can put a SST-50 2.5A P60 drop-in from Nailbender with OTF test to come with AA Tenergy cells. I will use 3 AA Tenergy for the test if buddy MrGman is willing.

Why AA?
CR123 would be smaller, lighter and brighter.

This true for primaries, but not with rechargeable lithium ion cells. From what I've read here on CPF 14500s have a slightly higher energy density than RCRs and output the same voltage so they'll run an AA light at the same brightness as 123s.

I would not want a pipe bomb attached in to my assault rifle.
Li-ions are good, but may not suite for beginner, thats why i said CR123.

thanks for the replies.

I am looking for AA lights due to ease of battery availability. I have several CR123 weapon lights, but want to be able to have "options" if I am not readily able to power the CR123 lights.

And yes, true AA lights, not rechargeables

thanks again

Jetbeam Jet-I Pro v3.0 or RRT-0. Both are quite bright with decent throw (using SMO reflectors).

I would try a JetBeam JET-I PRO V3.0 for a solid AA torch. Run a Li-Ion and it should be a nice weapon light.

+1, the jetbam jet 1 pro its nice,you will get 4800 lux@1m with 14500

or if you want mod:

with 21mm aspherical lens and 14500 you can get arround 15000 lux @1m......

or more than 60000 lux@1m with 50mm lens and 14500:crackup:
