I have a jetbeam m1x on the way (with extender) and I just ordered some new AW 2600mah 18650s too.

I just read that the light doesnt work with the new flat top cells, anybody experience this and can confirm???

Thanks....

Was this the thread you just read (last post):

https://www.candlepowerforums.com/threads/253990

That's the only person I've read of who's tried the 2600 flat-top cells with the M1X (and I've been following the M1X threads since I own one).

In other threads, not talking about the M1X specifically, people have talked about using magnets as spacers to get the flat-top cells to work.

Wait until you get it and try it before buying spacers. I have been running my M1X on two AW flat top 18650s (2600 mah) for many months with no problems whatsoever. Just don't over-tighten the head when going to MAX - I managed to partially 'crush' one of the flat-topped 18650s (had to switch this cell to bottom position but still works fine).

I recently purchased a V4 M1X but hadn't put an extension tube on it (my V3 works w/ extension tube and 2 x flat top 18650s). The V4 does NOT! Took them apart and found this:

As you can see the M1X V3 (left) has the + contact about 1-2mm HIGHER than the M1X V4 (right)!

I'll need to buy some button-top 18650s for this V4, whereas I'll keep using the flat-top 18650s with the V3.

Hi Gilly: How does one tell a M1X V4 from previous versions? What are the upgrades on the V4 that makes the V4 brighter than previous versions?

Some online stores claim the V4 as brighter but still rate the same 450/700lumen output??

I can now confirm (just tried it) that 2x AW 18650 2600mah cells WILL work in the V4 JetBeam M1X with a single 1.6mm magnet on the topmost cell (got my magnet from lighthound). --just in case anybody was still having problems

Interesting, they don't work in my M1X.

Could you provide a link, I wasn't able to find it on the website. I'd like to purchase one myself.
