What should the capacity of New Imedion cells be?

I just ran some new MAHA Imedion 2100 mAH cells through the MAHA C9000 Refresh and Analyze cycle, twice. While 2 of the cells came out with a capacity of over 2000 mAH, the other 2 are just over 1800 mAH. Should I get MAHA to replace these or is this low a reading normal?

Thanks

Try cycling the Imedion cells a few times - same recommendation for any new cell. My Imedions did come up very close to their rating after only a few discharge/charge cycles.

Expensive batteries/cells are cycled at the factory. The low-cost cells are simply shipped and require many cycles to reach their MAH rating or close to it. ie: For the Sony AA cells rated at 2700MAH, I have run my BC-900 chargers for days to reach some 2500-2600MAH at a 250ma discharge and 500ma charge rate.

BTW, I will not run the BC-900 at a charge rate of 1000ma - too dangerous! I rarely use even the 700ma charge rate. My normal charge rate is 500ma for AA cells, regardless of any theoretical proper charge rate.

Otherwise the difficulty in testing for discharge capacity to specification is that the discharge current affects the MAH capacity indication. Higher current equals lower MAH capacity. Per the Eveready and GE battery manuals, the rated capacity is achieved at 1/10C. For the Imedion AA cells, that means a discharge current of 210ma, not 250ma either. Testing takes too long for the patience of most users!

Hi chas0039.

When charging and disharging in MAHA C-9000, I'vve got these very good results.

Refrefresh&Analyze:1000mA/500mA

1. 2243 mA, 295 Minutes
2. 2223 mA, 297 Minutes
3. 2208 mA, 289 Minutes
4. 2244 mA, 258 Minutes

I just finished the second set of 4 of these and 2 of them are close to 1800mAH where the other 2 are just over 1900 mAH. So it looks like these cells will need a few more cycles to get up to capacity.

Thanks for the feedback.

Hi chas0039.

The best way is to discharge them first followed by the break in mode.

Edit:I wrote recharge instead of discharge.

A lot of members that bought the Titanium LSD's also had to put in a lot of work to get the cells up there in mah....for me i didnt mind since the cells were very affordable. I like to start off with 5cycles, let the cells rest and do a discharge, let the cells rest and then do a break in. After a break in i tend to let the cells rest for a day and then do a discharge and R/A. My titaniums are all over 1800's now.........a little work goes a long way.
