Happy New Year !!!

I have read all about the numerous battery explosions from CR123's.

I also understand the common sense safety tips to prevent the majority of problems.

This has been discussed many times.

Now... most of the problems I read about all come from 2005, 2006, or 2007.

Here are my questions:
  • Has the battery technology improved in some way?
  • Do they now offer additional protection?
  • Are they actually safer today as opposed to a few years ago?
  • Maybe people are just using the batteries smarter?

From reading recent battery-related Posts here on CPF,

i notice (some) people are still just as dumb as ever.

:sigh:___:hairpull:___:banghead:

Oh, and Happy New Year to you and your loved ones.

1- No
2- No
3- No
4- No, there are still (shockingly) CPF members who have the "it will never happen to me... I am willing to play the odds" mentality. These are the ones that leave me completely :shakehead. Worst of all, these are "experienced" members who others may look too for advice.

Use common sense when dealing with them (not mixing used and new, not recharging non rechargeable, not over charging, etc..) and you have a better chance of waking up next to Angelina.

Do some researching here on CPF and come to your own conclusions. Do not be swayed by extreme positions pro and con re the use of CR123's. Personally, as a flashaholic, I use many of the various batteries available, and do my best to be careful with all of them. I will say that I read hundreds of threads here on CPF yearly, and research the batteries/ electronics forum to keep abreast of new developments and issues that arise from the use of batteries.
