Battery options for Surefires?

Got a E2DL yesterday and wanted to setup on some rechargables.

Dropped a note into Batteryjunction to ask for some advice.

The response was that rechargables are not recommended for Surefires and could void the warranty.

Other threads here show recommendations for RCRs and other battery options for Surefires.

Is it generally accepted that Surefires only run on primaries?

If so then there will be an E2DL up for sale here soon.

If you look around, you'll find enormous numbers of threads discussing the use of rechargeables in SF lights.

Dealers will generally cover themselves by saying you should only use primaries, but inventive members here have found rechargeable solutions for almost every SF model.

I'll leave it to others to advise you on the E2DL - someone may be able to provide a useful link.

That is where the confusion kicks in :)

I am sure that Matt was being cautious and giving sound advice. The posts here indicate that people are running rechargables in their Surefires without issues.

Wanted to see if there is a concensus yet on the subject before *poofing* mine.

Hi jida
a good thread to look at is mdocod's about batteries and light compatibility.

Other threads regarding the E2DL are:-

My E2DL I tend to run on 17670's which to my eyes are only slightly dimmer than primaries but give the advantage of free lumens and presumably less chance of causing the E2DL to go POOF. The body of the E2DL will not accomodate 17670's without a slight bit of widening or the addition of an older E2D body that were slightly more generous internally.

Warranty

Surefire states that using anything other than Surefire batteries or a couple of other batteries like Panasonics will void the warranty. So proceed with that in mind.

I gave up on looking for rechargables for my SureFires. I will either use quality primaries (being very careful to not mix batteries) or I get some of the nice fellows on CPF to bore out my SFs to accept 18650s =D:party:
