New LSH-packing material or something else on lens

I received two new Arc LSH at the independence sale rate. (Yeah!) On both of them I notice what looks like a clear plastic sticker on the lens with bubbles under it.

Is this just to protect the lens during shipping or is there more to it?

If it's not just a sticker for shipping I'm surprised at the number of bubbles under it. And I'm not confusing it with farkle.

The other Arc LS I had was a pre-production second. And boy have they improved. The LS led itself is a much more natural white than I've seen from any low dome. Aside from being confused about the sticker the only complaint I have is that the battery rattles with the twisty pack.

The clear plastic is removeable. Some people leave it on, some take it off. Looks better if it's off.
