Bored tonight (Read: Don't start drinking vanilla coke at 12am), I decided to open up the NEX head. It wasn't too hard, I used vise grips, an old mousepads & a hairdryer.
Swapped emitter, Q5 to R4.

Compared to the Q5, this is muuuch brighter. You can play with the reflector a bit to bias toward spot or spill.
