Different Dereelight CL1H V4 'Models'

Can anyone kindly explain what the difference between these Dereelight models are? I am looking on the company's store and here are the ones offered:

1SM XP-G R5 (OP)
1S XP-G R5 (OP)
3SD XP-G R5 (OP)
3SM XP-G R5 (OP)

The reason I ask is because I heard the Dereelight CL1H V4s have around 80-150 lumens, but I saw a comparison floodlight picture and noticed it fared better than the EagleTac p20c2, which is claimed to tout 300 lumens.

However, the Dereelight featured the 3SD WG OP, which was not offered on the store.

Take a look:

Can anyone explain to me what is going on?

*I am a novice at flashlight terminology, so if the answer is blatantly obvious try to be kind

Thanks

S= stage or number of levels. M= multipower or the drop in has a wider range of voltage allowing you to use more types of batteries. D= digital the light is regulated.

So 1SM xpg-r5 OP is a drop in that has 1 light level and has a broader voltage range to accept more voltage from the batteries (3.4-16V) it has the latest cree XPG- R5 emitter with an orange peel reflector.

make sense?

Have a look here :

http://www.dereelight.com/pills.htm

To cut it short :

- 1 is a one mode light, 3 is a 3 mode light (low-med-high)
- 1S & 3SD are to be used with 1 li-ion (18650) of 4,2 Volt
- 1SM & 3SM are to be used either with 2 x CR123A or 2 x li-ion (with extender)

The output of the XP-G R5 is said to reach 300 Lumen, while the Q4-5C is probably at about 200 Lumen. These are the newest emitters, older ones were less powerfull of course...

I'll add a little clarification...
The XR-E R2 versions of the CL1H were about 225 lumens out the front (about 280 LED lumens). The new XP-G R5 has been tested at 300 lumens out the front (about 365 LED lumens) by CPF member MrGman. On our website, I've listed them as producing 280 out the front lumens.

Yes, the "D" in 3SD means regulated, but in fact all of the Dereelight models are regulated when the proper batteries are used (2 x CR123a/RCR123/18500/18650 in the 3SM and 1SM-2). The 1SM-2 can also use a single 18650, but won't be regulated with that battery choice. For full regulation when using only a single 18650, you'd want either the 3SD (three output levels) or the 1S (single output level, High only).
Here's a link to more info, but disregard the talk about tints for now... the XP-G models don't have a tint choice yet. http://flashlightconnection.com/Dereelight-Decision-Guide-9.html

I didn't take lux readings, but the XP-G R4 and R5's all have more floody beams compared to the R2. The beam is considerably nicer and near perfect on all XP-G's I have seen.

I purchased the low voltage 3SD .9v~4.2V for my Javelin and off course with topped off cells the input voltage is 4.2Vish and the XP-G R5 goes direct drive untill the voltage goes down to 4v. I actually managed to get the real OTF readings for the low voltage drop-in in 3 formats. Here you go

Thanks! Great work! If I purchase the javelin I would go with 2 l91's. Too long for me with the extension.

This makes me lean toward the superior output of cl3sv4 with the dereelight xp-g. I'll look forward to a comparison with the new eagletacs with their xp-g. I have a bi supply of cr123 on hand so buying a AA light will actually cost me more. I do like the looks of the javelin though & I usually succumb to temptation where beauty is involved!

At least this time, she won't break your heart! If you're in the US, consider purchasing from Flashcrazy. He's quick with both your initial as well as customer service and is the only official Dereelight dealer in the United States.
