What's your dream job or career? What have you done to get there? Are you already living your dream? Discuss.

I have two dream jobs that I dream of often..

One job that I would love is Building Operations Manager at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit. Just to be a vital part to that franchise would make me a happy guy. The amount of passion that many ice specialists have for their ice is amazing, and I believe I would have that same passion as well. Good ice is VERY important to a hockey team, as it can affect how the game is played...And who doesn't want to drive a Zamboni???!!!

The other job I would love to have is an Amateur Scout for any NHL team, mainly the Detroit Red Wings though. It is great to watch professional sports, but there is something special about watching youth hockey, especially in cold rinks in small towns in BFE Minnesota, Michigan, and Canada. To get compensation for doing this, would be a dream. As well as the ability to help a franchise go in the right direction player wise.

anyone remember "Q" from the james bond movies? thats my dream job, unlimited funds to do R&D for field operatives and national security technology...although i think bond would grow tired of "its a flashlight AND (insert random weapon/contraption)" on every single device i designed for him. lol

Have had a variety and as life comes in stages, the realization these weren't "dream Jobs", sets in. I've done pretty much what I've wanted and while on the other side of the fence it looks good, none have been that magical job/career. Some provide more enjoyment but there is always a balance to them.

One of my most memorable was a being a ski technician during college. Tuning skis, mounting bindings and some sales work. Loved that work and the benefit was free skiing that the company had arranged with various ski resorts. I took light class loads during the ski season so that at any given time, I could drive up and hit the slopes. While it didn't pay well...it was a blast for 4 years/seasons.

For me, dream and job does not go together. My dream is to not ever need a job.

My dream job is where someone comes to me with an interesting problem, tells me the constraints, and lets me design a solution.

My current job is in the right ballpark, but there is certainly room for improvement.

I sat in a chair for 10 hours today and watched about 20 people work while talking to a few operators and a supervisor. It was nice getting paid in the process.

I would definitely say it's a pretty sweet job, until I realize my work environment is prone to catastrophically exploding :poof:

I wish to be chief tester on the long term test team of the Hammock Factory.

I'm very experienced at it and after all, they do say that the best job is one where you get paid for doing that which you ordinarily do for pleasure...........

To be a Police Officer, or Pilot.

A career as a Pilot was narrowed out a while ago though :p

Yea, apparently very bad eye sight is a problem

I don't think a couple of Gs would do anything to contacts though, I think.

Nice to see a variety of different fields and interests here. At first glance, one would think only a specific group or type of people had flashlights as a hobby. I myself am a Mechanical Engineering/Aerospace Engineering student in my last semester of college... job market looking pretty bleak so far. I think my dream job would be to be an astronaut,... experience what no one else can. However, i second the whole job free life wish :)

I am working my dream job.

Im a Photographer for a Newspaper.

where else do you do something different each day, meet some amazing people, get paid to see bands from the front of the pit, watch major sporting matches from field level, get access to some amazing places to make photos.

and all they ask in return is that you produce a photo to use in the newspaper.

there is some bad things though, trying to photograph someone who is devastated over the loss of a loved one, or after their house has been destroyed by fire is very difficult, and makes me feel like crap after having to do it.

When I was a silly kid I wanted to be an astronaut. Ended up with a sensible job. Now I'm a retired silly old man that still wants to be an astronaut.

That's something I really wanted to do as a kid but as I grew up I realised that 1) I'm afraid of heights and 2) I get travel sick really easily. Once again reality comes along and kicks you in the nuts.

I still think that would be an awesome job though. Every day would be an adventure; free travelling, free holidays, hot air stewardesses, plus you'd have a real reason to own a Surefire A2L aviator.

I'd have lots of money, a hot wife, a cool car and monkey butlers
