I've made & sold a few SSR-50 flashlights, this one took the most thoughts & work, made me the most proud.
Sad to see this one go. See the build thread here: https://www.candlepowerforums.com/threads/254481

I've also seen a few SST/SSR for sale but none was driven to spec,
so this is what I believe the first fully driven SSR/SST 50 flashlight up for sale.
(I've made SSR-50 with 1xIMR 26650 before, 1xIMR wasn't able to drive the LED to 5A)

Specs:

Rare Silver Mag 2C host cut-down to 1C (maybe 1.25C) size
  • Judico 10Amp Tail Cap switch installed with GITD blue boot
  • (I tried ModaMag tail at beginning but end up making my own tail switch, I needed High Amp/Low resistance)
  • Extreme Top Bin SSR-50, 57K tint (1250 lumen @5A)
  • Copper Heat sink
  • Runs on 2 DX C-lion (1 protected + 1 unprotected) for long run time
  • Driven by dual P7 driver, delivering 5-6Amp to the LED
  • Tail cap amp draw is 3.8Amp, total power draw around 30 Watts
  • Thin 0.5mm Lexon window
  • Amazing throw in line with my Mag 85 on 3x17670
  • Brighter spill than my Mag 85 (Total lumen > my Mag 85)
  • Comes with mag C layard Ring (From Down load) & NiteCore EX10 layard (Perfect fit).
  • Compact, Powerful, Perfect Beam, Mag85 Throw & Long Run Time on a rare host, need I say more?
Asking $185. USA Only. Now $175. Now $169
Add $14 to cover PP fee, Shipping & Insurance.
Subtract $7 is you use No Fee Gift option when PP.
Price does not include batteries. If you want the 2 Li-ions in the light, add $20.

You can Run 2x Unprotected Dx C-lion by removing the Download Mag C Layard ring,
With the increased length on 1 un-protected + 1 protect C-Lion, you need the Download Mag Ring (Included)
There no room to fit 2x protected Dx C-lion.

Here are some new development, another member tried the same dual P7 driver solution & confirmed getting 5 Amp to LED.

https://www.candlepowerforums.com/posts/3258032#post3258032

This light is >1250 lumens with huge throw,
so much brighter than SSR-50 driven to 3Amp or DD with 1 Li-ion or 1x26650 IMR.

Re: Reduced: Mag 1C SSR-50, 5Amp current regulation, 10A tail switch - Mag 85 in LED!

What specific bin?

Does brightness fall off with time, due to heat or battery sag?

Will it run on AW cells of any sort?

Hi, The bin is the same as the previous light I sold to Fred here:
https://www.candlepowerforums.com/threads/247683

img0104hv.jpg

Except it's now GJ200 at the end because the GJ201 bin is non longer being offered. From what I see, this led tint is identical to the GJ201 I had before, no pee green etc. & It's nice 57K natrual color.

I could not visualize any brightness falling-off, it's got copper heat sink to the flat platform in the meaty part of the head, which does a better job than sink to the tube method in typical Mag sinks.

There's no battery sag effect, as it's two li-ion regulated.
After sagging, two li-ions still have much higher volts than lED vf, which
the driver controls current delivery to be constant 5 Amp.

You can Run 2x AW 18500.
Or bore out the tube to run 2x AW 26500.

Since it's regulated, you won't see much difference in brightness,
just run time difference.

I am kind of surprised at the lack of activity on this light, People haven't seen any fully driven SSR-50 for sale, they don't know that this is so much brighter than 3Amp driven SSR/SST lights. This hot spot is about 2x brighter vs. those 3A driven SST/SSR-50 light, or MCE/P7 lights.

See techjuinkie build thread where he used this method to drive SSR-50 to 5A after seeing my build, some nice beam shots vs. MCE there.

Re: Reduced x2: Mag 1C SSR-50, 5Amp current regulation, 10A tail switch - Mag 85 in L

Is there a way for you to bore the body a bit to allow for AW C 26500 cell?

I really like your light for its size and more importantly it regulates 5A~6A:thumbsup:, but I have 4 IMR C cells already and no 18500 in my arsenal:oops:

Thanks,
bigC

Thanks BigC,

I don't have a way to do that, unfortunately, you would have to send it out for boring by someone who has a Lathe.

I can throw in the Two DX C li-ion I have in the light for free,
to me the IMR has no advantage in this 2x Li-ion set-up & you'll wind up getting 20% less run time with AW IMR.
