Hi friends,
After Cree's announcement of increased drive levels for XP series. I want to give a chance to XP-G.
The problem with XP-G was surface brightness but with the new drive levels, XP-G R5 @1500mA can catch the XP-E R2 @1000mA in the meaning of surface brightness. (so Throw values must be equal?)
Case 1:
I made a Mag mod with XP-E Q3 5B @1180mA
- @1180mA output is near 220 lumen according to jtr1962's WW P4 Cree test results
- XP-E has 1mm^2 emitting area so it has 220 lumen/mm^2 surface brigthness
Results for XP-E:
- I have measured 670 lux from 7.26 meter away (610 lux after 20 min)
- Got 38cm x 40cm oval hot-spot (full spot diameter is 82cm)
Case 2:
and Mag with XP-G R4 1C @1450mA
- @1450mA output is near ~410 lumen according to jtr1962's XP-G R5 Results
- XP-G has 2mm^2 emitting area so it has 205 lumen/mm^2 surface brigthness for this mod
Results for XP-G:
- I have measured 575 lux from 7.26 meter away (523 lux after 20min)
- Got 48cm x 60cm oval hot-spot (full spot diameter is 90cm)
Wish Helps,
Enjoy
