Hi ...

Just another 9 Amps driver Thread ... Some prototyping is already done :naughty:

The specs/facts:
- Output Current: 0-9A
- Min. Input Voltage: 5V
- Max. Input Voltage: 20V (up to 12,6V recommended)
- Diameter: 33mm
- Height: about 10-15mm
- Efficiency up to 92%
- driver needs to be heatsinked

Single mode driver respectively you could solder two wires to the pads and connect a potentiometer to it. By pressing the Mag switch the driver will start with the current adjusted by pot.

Some pictures ...

cheers

Hi, Thanks for posting.

a) Will it work over the auto temp range (-40C to at least 60C)
b) Can it be made to turn on when power is applied to the input pins without the extra momentary?
c) Sealed inductor ?

Thanks

Harry

Sure ... I think Mike will build up the prototypes next weekend. The IC is able to handle up to 40V (Vin) ^^ We'll do some testing and look for the temperature of all components heatsinked/non heatsinked :)

Can it be made to turn on when power is applied to the input pins without the extra momentary?
(I'm not quiet sure if I' misunderstanding you) We'll have to see if the stock switch is able to handle the full output ... If it doesn't :poof: no monetary switch is needed.

Sealed inductor ?
I'm not quite sure... the prototypes will be made next weekend.

regards

Hi, I am actually the most interested in the lower end of the input voltage and temperature range, as in "will it work at 40 C below zero and down solidly to 4.5 - 5 volts.

I am not putting it in a mag so that switch is not a concern for me.

Voutmax is 18.75V ... so you are able to drive 3 sst-90 in series with Vf<6V. Both - the driver and the 3 LEDs - will produce a lot of heat  Without active cooling the 3 LEDs will become too hot within minutes :poof:

WOHOW YOU ARE THE MAN!!!!
Cooling is no problem just tell me where to cool, I will be using it in my divelight.

Please check this below if I am right:
Apply power and the driver is on.
Dimming with a potentiometer.

Not in California though. You gotta come to Canada if you want that treatment.

Hi Spencer  - that certainly is more likely, but I have experienced "nearly that cold" (ok, -38 C) in Iowa and Minnesota, and used to be there pretty often. I grew up in the midwest, and the experience sort of sticks with you when designing things.

Is that a microcontroller I see in your circuit?

No ... there is no PIC chip/µC integrated yet
