A very dark world.
The web sight does not give much info.

"Code: POWER LED
Description: Security torch
Security torch with 4 AA cells or with the optional "POWER BANK" NiMH rechargeble battery (size AA)+battery charger (66 €). Autonomy 30h, efficiency 10W, shock resistant led light garanteed for 100.000 h. Reflector 20° or optional on request 10°. Weight: 450g in water: 200g "

"Efficiency 10W" Ten watts of power?

Hopefully someone has actually seen this and can help.

Stainless,

If its built as well as the Fa&Mi Spitlight that I have already then I would think you are looking at one seriously tough torch. The questions are

1.) What LED?
2.) Is it regulated? (I doubt that it is)
3.) Who sells it?
4.) Beam pattern (My Spitlight is very bright, 20Watt Bulb but has a wide 10 Degree reflector. Would throw much further (M6 possibly) with narrow beam)
5.) Price?

Hi,
Finally got a reply from Fa&Mi (They take very long factory holidays).

Here are my questions followed by the answers.
1.) What type of LED is used in the torch? I.E. 1W/5W Luxon or 5mm Nicha?

2.) How many LED's are used? If more than one.

3.) Is the light voltage regulated for constant light output?

Hi...
I try to answer to all your question:
1) The led used in the torch ia a Nicha led SMD<180° 12.000mC
2) Only one led is used... driven by an electonic system able to increase till 150% the brightness and to considerably reduce consumes: autonomy of 30 hours with 4 AA alkaline cells.
3) you can get about the 100% of the power for the first 10 hours... 75% of the power for other 10%... and 50% of the power for the last 10 hours.

Now what does this mean?
Does the light run on a single 5mm Nicha? or is it the new high power version that is used in the Panasonic headlamp.

Thanks for any help

Mark

12,000mcd sounds a bit low for a 2 watt LED, so id say its a 5mm equivalent in a surface mount package (SMD).

Thanks,
Its very expensive (€189) for a single 5mm Nicha light.
I know there is a premium because its a dive light.
Plus it runs for only 30 Hours on 4 AA batteries.
I thought that only 1 5mm LED would run for longer.
They also quote the output as 10W.

Still puzzled.

Hi,
A quick update on this light.
I have got one /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
My supplier told me it's the only one in the UK at the moment /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

This is no ordinary 5mm LED light. It about as bright as my ARC LSH. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

But I am still not sure what LED is used? Perhaps 'POWER LED' as the name of the light is the name of the LED used?
Whould be nice if it was! Is this the first one in the UK or outside Japan?

Will do a review later and post lots of pics. So you can all help solve the mystery LED.
