I was just wondering the same thing. Most of my lights are reverse clicky for fear of tearing off a nub.

I have never come close to wearing out a switch boot. All of my lights with the exception of Surefire have come with spares so it is not a problem.

I have an A2 where the switch rubber has become very worn, and an extremely battered 6P, but the latter is mostly damage to the tailcap aluminium rather than the switch.

I'll try to get some photos up later :)

My worn Z52 from my E2e, on the left. A new Z52 on the right for comparison.

DaFabricata, there's surely a compelling story there, could you tell us any more? Or at least let us see the rest of the light?

Here we are:

Old A2 on the left, new on the right:

Old Z41 on the left, new Z41 on the right:

The rubber on the A2 in particular is very soft and pliable. I'm not sure if this is the result of use or if it's just a different type of rubber to the newer tailcaps. It can be pushed easily from side to side and can bend/fold well over the edge of the tailcap very easily.

After looking at it closer when taking the above photos, there are some very small holes in A2 rubber. I can see the 6P wearing through in the near future in the circular area over the switch mechanism.

How do you replace the boot on the 6P?

How do you replace the boot on the 6P?

-Remove the small spring
-Use pliers to grasp and pull the switch pill. There is a press-in fastner that holds it in.
-use a penny + pliers to unscrew the plastic retainer. You might need to bag-boil it to loosen it up, but i did not need to.

Mine came apart very easily. The hardest part is getting the -B spring back into the pill.
