Ok...It was a simple mod I admit. I put in a 16340. I heard that 4Sevens says it's OK for short durations on high. I was very surprised. My Lux numbers with CR123: 50/505/2450 @1M. With 16340: 50/710/3850 !!
The mid mode stays steady at 710 lux. High will actually hit 4000+ for a few seconds, then steady 3850 and slow drops to 3500 or so at 30 seconds. I really like the 40% increase on "Mid" mode. It was just a little too dim for me with CR123. I usually ran it all the time on "High" Now I am quite satified and use "mid" and have 4000 lux for short blast when needed.

Quite normal, those results I guess!

If we turn the logic upside down, we come to this : Li-Ions mustn't be used, because they generate more heat and this involves the light being brighter. Try the same with an AA and put a 14500 in it, you have another light!

Li-ions are absolutely no problem if you keep in mind, that the light musn't stay unattended on high and that high should be used intermittently. I'm getting used to this, as I also have Customs which would overheat in constant use, a flashaholic is supposed to have a feeling for this after all...

Enjoy your pocket-rocket! :D

Thanks! I did not know a RCR123 would perform so well in the MiNi.
I see it's meant for short burst use on high.

MrGman tested with IMR 16340, but we later learned that was a no no.

I re-tested with a CR123 Surefire Primary and yeah, its not as hot.;)

The most surprising thing is how light the Mini-123 is and small too.
