I just ordered a Tec 40 and am very satisified with it. It seems an older version (that was reviewed by Quickbeam) was submersible to 2000 ft. On my package it says mine only has a depth rating of 500 ft. Are there 2 different kinds? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I have a Tec 40 also....
I have also seen the tow different ratings.
I think Brightguy.com says 2000 feet.
PT's site, says 500 feet.
I think the 2,000 feet rating floating around, is a misprint that has been spread around and used.
I cant see theis light being good to 2,000 feet.

I remember my old package saying 2000 ft. I remember the REI salesman saying that's really deep (in a salespitch tone). I replied that if I were 2000ft down I'd like a little more flashlight. He just smiled. I bought it anyways. I doubt I'll even go 500ft down.

Considering when I go scuba diving, I don't even get close to the 200' depth so even a 500' depth rating is more than adequate.

But yeah, when I got my Tec40 the packaging said 2000'.
