Longtime lurker. I just put a everled in a rayovac prodigy (have to reverse the batteries first!)(four aa) and thought I would post about it. At first, it is excellent compared to a 3d mag, seemed brighter, bigger hotspot, more even. May have to do with 4 cells even though the everled hits primetime on 3 cells. But the greatness is short lived. The mounting boss on the prodigy is a thin plastic tube, and serves as no heat sink, probably slightly adiabatic. The everled gets dim in short order, and after taking it out it was pretty hot. The mounting boss on the mag light is metal, and seems to make the everled more happy. Oh well.

As you have seen for yourself, heatsinking is extremely important. Fortunately, the EverLED has built in heat protection. Unfortunately, it does not have polarity protection (a simple diode would do).

BTW, welcome to CPF!
