This topic has been visited before.

It is a simple, DIY mod that can be made from parts
that are readily available from a variety of CPF
affiliated members and sponsors.

I bought the appropriate SureFire adapter (AN14),
the nine volt lamp assembly of your choice
and a special "button" adapter from DSpeck.

I present to you my SureFire G3! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Here are the key parts needed to add to your G2:

It doesn't get much easier (or cheaper) than this!

Here's what you "need":

1. SureFire G2 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . $24.99

2. AN14 adapter . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . $7.00

3. P90/91 Lamp . . . . . . . . . . . . . . $20-24.00

4. "button" adapter from DSpeck . . . approx. $10.00

5. Z32 Shock osolated bezel . . . . . . . . . $20.00

You don't have to get the Z32. There are other options.
If you are going to use the light for extended periods
of time you will want to replace the stock G2 bezel due
to heat concerns and bubbled lenses.

Depending on which pieces you use, you can have up to
200 lumens for between $60.00 and $86.00!/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/faint.gif

Many people will already have a G2 on hand so the cost
will be less. You might even have an extra LA around.

If you have the right SureFire parts laying about, you
can do this mod for under $20.00!

Have Fun!

Yes, #4 is a spacer. You could make your own by
cutting down a "dummy" battery, but I lack the tools.

It should work on a G2Z but you would lose the special
grip feature (it might look funny . . . then again, it
might look cool).

Same here,

I also run my G3-1/2 with 4 2/3A 1000ma NiMhs with P60 or P61 too - but the P9x LAs with 3 123´s, a G2Z bezel and a DIY 1/2 123 size dummy (round wodden piece with nail through it and not as nice as Dougs but way cheaper) is definetely a great combo !

Cost: P9x LA, AN14, G2Z-bezel ~ 40-50 USD + G2 ~ 20USD = 60-70 USD

Is the shock isolated bezel required? Won't the P60/61 LA's fit in the G2's bezel? Jon

[/ QUOTE ]

The shock isolated bezel is NOT required - all the P6x or P9x LAs fit the original G2 bezel - but as this bezel only carries a Lexan lense it might melt on extended usage with higher power LAs like the P61 or P9x LAs - for those LAs one of the Pyrex equipped bezels is advisable where in my opinion the G2Z bezel is the most natural fit.

Is it possible to replace just the lens in a G2 bezel? Maybe flashlightlens.com can come up with something suitable.
