Are we talking about the Q5 A1 or the newer STainless Steel R2 version? I think you'll get roughly the same output out of both lights, but as the A1 uses an XR-E emitter (I think, it might me XP-E) then it may look brighter as it will have a tighter hotspot and so a higher lux value. The Q-Mini should have a larger hotspot though and edge the A1 for overall lumen output. It also depends whether you'll be using RCR123's or CR123a's..

Most probably the quark will put out more light, but the hotspot will not be as intense as the A1.
