As the title states.
I really liked the E2DLs TIR optic, like something similar.

With a bigger spot and higher lux (blinding effect).

And perfect fitment with a C2, no gap please.

As I'm considering having a mod done next month, this will supplant me during the time needed to have it done.
Looking at the end of April, so future drop-ins may come (Malkoff?) that may be better.

those Anto XPGs look pretty bright-
I know XPG isnt as "luxy" but the hotspot is big
and @ 300+ OTF its gonna be pretty bright.
maybe a SMO reflector?

the hotspot on my nb sst50 is pretty huge and it screws totally flush in my
C2 with the spring removed and some aluminum strips jammed in there.

Psychbeat, was it the direct drive version, the 2.5A or the 2.8A version? I've had the same drop-in but with a small gap.

its the 3 mode regulated op
it left a gap until I just removed the spring entirely today as per rec
by annonmoususer in this thread:

I have some aluminum strip jammed in there as well and some
AS-5. I didnt think the light would work without a spring but it did!!
try on yers- add some aluminum foil for a snugger fit and more
contact with the body.:twothumbs
it looks waaay better with the head flush me thinks:cool:

Bump.

P.S. Thanks Psychbeat. That's definitely a recent discovery for me. I'll remember that for next time.

Do you mean you removed only the big outer spring or the little spring that touches the positive end of the battery as well?

Well let me put it this way. I have two P60 drop ins. BOTH are Dereelight XP-G's. I like it THAT much. The new Solarforce may beat it for total lumens but I love the combo of throw and spill that the Dereelight gives. It reminds my of my TK40. No, it's not that bright but the beam pattern is that good. I don't know if any XP-G out throws it but I doubt it...unless you scavenge the Dereelight reflector and put it on another drop in.

I just got my single mode Dereelight XP-G today. I already had the 3 mode. When I read about the Solarforce 1.5 amp P60 I regretted buying the Dereelight. Now that I have it I do not. I will never get over how bright the Javelin is with the Deree drop in. Perfect white tint too. No green. No yellow. No complaints. (people who know me here can tell you how seldom THAT happens LOL)

I wish I had the Solarforce just to compare them. Hard to believe it looks brighter. If anybody has both I'd love to see comparison beamshots.

No, I am not a Derreelight salesman and I don't play one on TV

How big is this hotspot without a turbohead?

I want one for the C2/6P/Z2 series.

As for the color.. I wouldn't mind swapping it for a blue-r XP-G (if they're available).

Edit: Anto's XP-G seems to beat the Dereelight and Solarforce hands down in output. What remains to be seen is which one has highest lux & biggest hotspot.
P.S. Use with CR123s is preferred

+1 on the NB SST-50. I also have a dereelight XP-G and heartily recommend it as it's a great drop-in, but the hotspot on the SST-50 dwarfs it by a very large, bright margin.

1) Dereelight XP-G
2) Nailbender SST-50

Any others?

I've been wondering if there's an optic we could switch out for the reflectors..

just the big outer spring. I think you can leave just one loop of it
and get the same effect and less of a possible contact issue.
mine seems 100% fine without the outer spring and its had the
hell jiggled out of it on my bike!

the hotspot of the SST50 is about double my quarkmini123xpgr5
on high w a 16430. its a way better tint -more yellow white or vanilla.
very similar to the xpg just double everything.
the thrunite xpg drop-in looks pretty nice- considering
grabbing a low voltage when they come out.

Im pretty broke tho so I should just wait til the S2 xpgs are released.
Saving for a fivemega turbo C head too- they work with the NB drop-ins
and basically extend the reflector and have more heatsinking or fins...
gud luk on yer quest!!

Malkoff M61 is an excellent choice here.
Aside from the obvious availability issues ofc.
Anyone know how long it would take to get my hands on one? I'd be kinda disappointed if it takes more than a month.

Oh ya, I always take off that spring. I'm going to start a collection. I wrap the slug with copper tape and it works fine. I thought you removed the little spring in the middle that actually touches the positive end of the battery. I couldn't picture how it could work without that.

Well I always assumed the Malkoff M61 was a bit flood-ier.
In that case the M60 would be better, however in regards to the hotspot size I'm looking - it is the M61 that comes out on top.

I think Anto's XP-G with the OP is "brighter"(/throw-ier) so it would be the champ.

Anyone know the aftermarket optic route? :popcorn:I know reflectors are switched all the time, but how about putting an optic on an XP-G drop-in?

Congrats on 7,000 posts as well!

There doesn't seem to be too much info on the M61, specifically regarding how far it throws. But I would've thought that the SST-50 would perform better just from the lumens it puts out.

Also, don't know if you saw this one:
http://www.cpfmarketplace.com/mp/showthread.php?t=218995

Not sure if it meets your criteria, but I personally jumped all over it like flies on rotting meat(in a good way), just because of the impressive specs and reviews...and because I didn't want to wait another 2 weeks for an SST-50.

But since you mentioned XP-G's, I figure this new one is worth a glance. Not sure what the throw is, but the lumens certainly seems adequate if you're looking for a blinding light. Though in the available beamshots, I still say the NB SST-50 has a bigger and brighter hotspot, just my 2 cents.

Instead of guessing check out these beamshots and see which you like best. I still like the Dereelight due to its tight hotspot. If you prefer a bigger more diffused hotspot the others are better.

Just out of curiosity, is this a "self-defense" kind of light?

It all sounds exactly like what I was looking for:
-6P body w/o extender for pocket-size.
-2x RCR123s for maximum output.
-Large hotspot, little flood/spill for concentrated beam.

In which case, I think you ought to disregard throw because if your target is 100+ feet away, you ought to spend that extra distance running towards the police station or high traffic area. Although I'm not entirely sure if throw is entirely unrelated to a concentrated beam/hotspot.

Looking through LEDs by lux seems more difficult, as people tend to favor raw lumens ratings.
