Duracell w/testers exchanges re old Mini-Mags ?.

Reading Doug Ritter's site's Leatherman Wave review, I came across a note
" From: Peter Garland Date: 27-January-99 ".

Peter Garland says that if you have an old mini-mag, and Duracell batteries with a tester won't fit due to their increased diameter, you can contact Duracell and they will exchange for a new Mini-Mag with you. He suggests you call first.
( And his quote " Who needs a tester if the light is dim it is time to replace the stupid battery " )

OK, it was some time ago now, but maybe it still holds ?
Do people remove labels with testers most times anyway ?
