Another great article Norm!! What I want to know is where are our Special Forces assets now, and why aren't they assembling and training an Iraqi National defense force to handle in country security and counter insurgency? It seems to me we should be advising and training Iraqis to handle the destruction of the guerrillas left from the Baathists and Loyalists to Saddam, they need to participate in the defense and reconstruction.
I hope the conventional Military leaders running the show don't botch this through arrogance, they need to take a lesson from the British SAS and their operations in Oman back in the seventies, Nation Building is most effective through Civil participation, defense and public development. Insurgent loyalists won't stand a chance if the Iraqi's are the largest part of their own restructuring of leadership, development and most importantly, defense. And nobody trains foreign forces better than our SOF community.
