I am interested in the Fenix TK11.R5 or the TK12.R5, but I am confused on the regulation between these two models when it concerns 18650 batteries. According to the Fenix website both lights can run CR123A or 18650, but they do not provide run time graphs for each battery type.

The TK11.R5 Fenix page has a run time graph for 18650 and it seems to be very well regulated on this battery type, but it does not display a run time graph for CR123A. On the other hand, the TK12.R5 Fenix page has a run time graph for CR123A but not one for 18650. I am confused as to the meaning of this.

Does one light regulate better with CR123A and one better with 18650? If you have a Fenix TK12.R5 please post a run time graph for 18650. Also, does each flashlight body handle both battery types without wiggling around inside the body?

TK11.R5
- Regulation graph for 18650 battery type only
- Operate with CR123A or 18650
- No belt clip
- Only two modes of operation (18650 = 285/2.7, 60/14hrs)

TK12.R5
- Regulation graph for CR123A battery type only
- Operate with CR123A or 18650
- Belt clip included
- Three modes of operation (CR123A = 280/1.5hrs, 65/12hrs, 120/5.5hrs, 11/120hrs)

Thanks

I don't have the info you're after, but personally, I prefer rechargeables over primaries because of the cost factor. Just my opinion.

Good morning :D

Fenix TK12 Q5/R2 have regulation for 18650 http://www.light-reviews.com/fenix_tk12/ - propaby Fenix TK12 R5 will be with regulation too...

Fenix TK11 Q5/R2 don't have 18650 regulation :( if Fenix will not change driver TK11 R5 will be without regulation...

Last time they used to change only emiters :(

Sorry my poor English :(

Both have regulation as long as emitter Vf is lower than battery voltage. TK11 Q5s used to have high Vf=poor regulation. Newer models (with R2) seemed to have emitters with nice, quite low Vf. Here's the graph of TK11 R2 by 'jirik_cz':

XP-G typically has very low Vf so both models should have nice, flat regulation.

Hi, I had the same questions as you, so look what people at fenix e-mailed me about that, I think I'm going for the tk 12:

Thank you for your interest. The tk11 and 12 are pretty much identical
save for the tk12 having different modes. They both have similar throw
and runtime and both can use 18650 out of the box. Please let me know
if you have any further questions.

I just ordered and charged by 18650 batteries...my question is will the light stop working or get drastically dimmer prior to the batteries being over discharged to where it will not charge again?
