How lucky or fortunate have you all been with door prizes at seminars and professional meetings? How lucky are you, tell us?

I never have in almost 60 years won a door prize drawing, nope, NEVER!

Today I attended a professional training seminar sponsered by a Fed agency and made personal history.

There were vendors displaying goods present. One gentleman, we are old friends, and I worked together for a pulblic safety equipment supply company many many years ago, for many years since then he has owned his own supply company; he supplied a Quiqlite as a door prize for the sponsering Feds.

Surefire was there too and had their own door prize. Mr. Hickcox of SF was of course familiar with our beloved CPF and my moniker, NL.

Of all the things to happen, I was drawn on both drawings and proudly own a Quiqlite and a SF G2Z. I won two LED lights. My EDCs for the most part are my mods, soon to be joined by two tri-P7 modified Nuwai TM 800x3 pushing 2700 lumens.

My first SF, this G2Z. Nice light, I have different tastes, maybe you should look for it in the B/S/T Forum.

This seminar was held at a Casino. Should I have moved into the game room and tested this new found aura?

Your turn, what was your best door prize? You biggest white elephant?

I won a really nice bike at a Burger Drawing one time...not really a "door prize", but along the same lines.

Other than the occasional $100 from pull-tabs, the only thing I've ever won was a PK Rouge 1 in the raffle last year.

Many years ago (ok 14), my wife and I went to an Astronomy meeting. Of course, we both got door prize tickets, and we bought a book of 5 raffle tickets to help the club

Don't you know we won 5 different prizes that day - we didn't get the "Grand Prize" (which I actually didn't WANT) but DID get the 1st price (which I really wanted) Came home with so much stuff it was actually embarrasing

Congrats! You might want to reconsider and keep it, a Malkoff M60LL is an excellent choice for that light. I won an Aeon a couple years back. It's a good feeling isn't it?

I agree with the above. :) Just keep that light as a glovebox backup or something. Own it with pride - 'Hey, guess what, I got that light for free in a drawing, check it out...'. You can't say that about your other lights, if you sell this one & get something else, it doesn't make for as good an anecdote.

Of course, don't mention that you upgraded it with an expensive top-end LED dropin or something...

:oops:Awh,...I got no class... sold it already, about 15 minutes after starting the thread, even posted it in the wrong forum and it still went. They certainly have a great customer loyalty. I dont agree their quality is the only best, it is very good and they use top of the line parts, but so do some Chinese brands and others too. If you take the SF apart you may be surprised to see the same parts as other not so popular lights. You cannot go wrong with SF but you can go BRIGHTER with something other. From my utilitarian stand point, lumens is best!:naughty:

I have seen plenty of failures through CPF of cheap imports :( but there are many that are good too. I stay with a few proven models and procure them for aquaintences that want something small, uncommonly bright and reasonably priced.

LOL-- several of my work mates have purchased the R2 and Q5 drop ins now for their SF. Now their SF's work as good as my DX Chinese lights!

However, my hotwires and LED mods have even better outputs and I use them mostly, and they do get noticed when I use them because of the output.

When I go into the country, fishing and such. I already take a duffel full of lights with me. Anymore collecting and I could be accused of breeding them. No more shelf queens. No more modding. I leave the option open to aquire the latest technologies though:whistle:.

Hope your luck continues, Northern Lights. My best and only prize winning came at a drawing during a lab seminar. I had no idea I was even entered in anything and ended up with some Nikon binoculars.

Lucky you! The only thing I EVER won in my life was a bizarre little talking apple toy at a Boy Scout banquet years ago.:mecry:

I won my first L1 at SF's SHOT Show party a few years back. Still have it. I'm sure PK doesn't mind me having modified it. :nana:
