I'm looking for a host for single 26650 for either D26 (P60) or D36 drop ins. I know FiveMega makes some, but the 26650 ones aren't available. Anybody know of other sources?

I've been searching for this as well, and there doesn't seem to be any available now. The emphasis seems to be on 26500 cells at the moment. I don't know why since 26500 cells capacity is less than 18650's... I guess it's the slight need for higher voltage under load on the 26500's, and they can pull more than 5 amps.

You can also keep in mind that some 4x26500 size hosts (which are also near impossible to find) can fit 3x26650 cells.

There are 1x26650 D36 FiveMega hosts available still, but they're only good for LED's:

I've been wondering how and why they've been able to re-brand the host. I think the price is ridiculous.

As you can see in FM's sales thread mknewman bought a bunch and it looks like he sold them to lighthound so lighthound I guess named it after him(MKN) since he sourced it to lighthound. This is all a guess, but it seems pretty plausible.

Depending on how much you're prepared to spend, you might be able to persuade one of the custom machinists to make one for you.

So they created a whole listing for the 4 hosts he bought? What happens when FM starts making these again? I'm glad I got mine but I still think the AW IMR26500 is an awesome battery regardless of the capacity although I guess the BS IMR26650 is really enticing with its 4Ah capacity.

Im use my FM 26650 host with Solarforces Pro-1 Turbo head, what I do is use a spacer( http://www.britelumens.com/MagLiteParts.html ) to fit 18XXX batteries and use 2x18350 because that head requires atleast 6V for max brightness. One BS 26650 will give it extra long runtime but it is not as bright.

Use a "C" cell host then hone the body out. My Life Gear only required .015" total, which thinned the body walls only .0075". You can make a hone by cutting a 2" long slit down the center of a 1/2" diameter wooden dowel, then fit with 220 sandpaper, or get fancy and splurge for an automotive brake cylinder hone. Both will require a small hand drill. If you use the auto hone, make sure you use a lubricant (light oil) or you'll plug-up the stones.

So how do you lengthen it another 15mm to fit the 26650?

If you have a 2D Mag, you can fit 2 of those IMR 26650 cells perfectly. I use this for incan builds only because not many drivers exists for SST-50 or SST-90 in the 8.4V input range.

+1 I have a 1x26650 body in both D26 and D36. I greatly prefer the D36 body because of the heat sinking. An SST-90 in the D36 host direct drive from 1x26650 is pretty special.
I also have the same set up with an SST-50 you won't be sorry. Looks like there are two left.

Sorry I thought the OP was looking for a FM C host that fit the 26650. However I have to agree with others here and say the FM D36 26650 host is awesome but would recommend the sst50 over the 90 due to better throw.

If this is correct, as it appears to be, it is unethical practice (and that is the mildest term I can think of to describe it).

To misrepresent an item as something you have made yourself, when in fact someone else made it and all you are doing is reselling it at a substantial profit, is unacceptable.

Lighthound themselves appear blameless in this matter, and seem to have been misled.

Some clarification would be welcome.
