Hi guys. Newb with some newb questions. Sorry I've searched and searched. Any links would be greatly appreciated. I just need some help and advice from you guys.

I've read and read on MagD conversions. I get to a point that I think I've got it figured out, then 2 minutes later, read another thread and I'm just down right confused.

Let me get to the point of what I'm wanting to do. I'm wanting to build a Mag3d or 4d if necessary as a host. 18650 x 2 as my power source (if possible). Emmiter - P7 c bin. Sentpong Heatsick. 15mm MOP reflector. Glass lens. Simple one mode flashlight.

What driver and circuit board do I need. Would I need a buck converter?
The whole driver part is whats driving me mad.

Thanks for reading. I'm sorry to ask so many questions. Thanks in advance.

here a simple mag p7 mod that i did.
2d mag p7
p7 and heatsink you can buy here http://www.britelumens.com/
driver i used, is dx 5 mode driver, http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.20329, i like it. good driver for the price, thou from dx you wanna buy 2 in case 1 will be shot, it happens.
you don't need to mess with 18650, you'll have to dualbore the tube for it, otherwise you can put 2 cells, in 2d, but imo it is waste of space.

i use FM 6aa holder with 6 eneloops, you could use them or any other nimh or nicd cells, just make sure total voltage isn't over 8,4v or you'll fry the driver, fresh of charger pack is about 8v.
you'll ask why mess with low capacity nimh? well they are cheaper, and a lot more forgiving, and safer. plus in FM holder you can charge entire pack, and not to worry about unbalancing cells,(nimh chemistry is the key)
here is a holder

that is just one maker of holders, there is another guy here that sells a bit different holders, but i couldn't find him,. may be he changed his sig, or i just missed it.
you really don't need glass lens, stock mag lens will be just fine, there is no heat at reflector and lens in led lights(most) unlike halogens. so leave lens and reflector stock, just cut off the cam.
also you can splatter stock mag reflector to turn it somewhat op from smooth. all it takes a can of clearcoat, and some skills.

i just realized i told you how to build 2d mag, but you asking about 3-4d mag, most of what i said stays the same, but driver you would need a different one, (there are lots of drivers available, just type p7 driver, into search and you'll see) cuz the one from dx can only take 8,4v, 3-4d size will fit more cells thus more voltage (also battery holder would have to be made for 3-4d lights). 4d light you can power with 4nimh d size cells,(simplest solution, no holders or adapters needed, perfect fit) using dx driver, but imo the light will be unnecessary bulky, but with excellent runtime.
